Scorbie Splitter is a composite stable glider duplicator. It consists of a syringe, which converts an input glider to a Herschel (shown in the Herschel great-grandparent form), and a dependent Herschel-to-glider converter labelled SW25T179_SE28T20, which was discovered by praosylen[1] and identified by Dongook Lee in January 2016. For the naming conventions of glider outputs, see NW31.

It has a repeat time of 90, which is the lower limit of the dependent conduits that involve the transparent block reaction. The eater 1 next to the eater 2 was originally presented in a slightly farther location, absorbing gliders via the toggling boat-bit reaction.

Its name comes from the fact that in 2017, Dongook Lee (forums pseudonym Scorbie) suggested using the H-to-2G in conjunction with dependent syringe in single-channel constructors.[2] It has since been Spartan in slmake standards and widely used in self-constructing patterns, some examples of which are Speed Demonoid, Hydra, camelship and loopships. It is much smaller and faster than the previous choice of Spartan glider duplicator, Silver's reflector, as is used in the 2010 pi calculator. A single-channel glider recipe that constructs a Scorbie splitter along its path like the Snarkmaker consists of 4006 gliders, and a single-channel Snarkbreaker-like recipe that builds six slow xWSSes to destroy a Scorbie splitter has 461 gliders.[3]

The 90-degree SW25T179 output of the device is on a transparent lane, enabling it to merge glider streams. If only that output is needed, the following variant by EvinZL in June 2021 with one eater 1 replaced with a block can be used.[4]
