Template talk:GliderNavbox
This is, I think, the first navbox template on this wiki that uses multiple layers of {{Navbox}} for subgrouping, which results in too many borders inside and looks not very nice.
And that is not the only thing to improve. There is a TO BE DONE in the periodic G-to-H section; I would like to see a summary for these wonderful mechanisms, as the scarcity of similar patterns guarantees their notability even if not helpful for reducing bounding boxes of glider guns. Extra blank line on display
For some reason, having GliderNavbox above __NOTOC__ will display an ugly blank line below the box, and while moving this template below the magic word fixes that, the method is objected. Any better suggestions on the cause or solution? GUYTU6J (talk) 15:48, 1 August 2022 (UTC)
- This issue has been partially fixed by removing a hidden newline character. In the case of p5 bumper, however, a {{DISPLAYTITLE}} below GliderNavbox still leads to an empty line.
See also other devices?
I think that any page equipped with this navbox may leave out related "see also" items for brevity; for instance, the entire "see also" section in Silver G-to-H can be removed. Opinions? GUYTU6J (talk) 05:40, 2 August 2022 (UTC)
- The short reply is that I do not support removal of entire sections of "see also". "See also" links can be useful for readers even when there is a template. I'm sometimes removing from "see also" only those links that are present in the main text, but removing all of them may fail to be an improvement. If you think otherwise, I suggest to continue the discussion of "see also" on tiki bar. This particular template may be somewhat hard to navigate due to nestedness (which is not necessarily a bad thing, but keeping two or more different ways to access information -- such as templates versus see also links -- is still a good thing). And there may be issues because readers use different devices. Confocal (talk) 08:51, 2 August 2022 (UTC)
