This is the 34th most common 13-cell still life out of 240.

There is a three-glider collision with this still life in the ash.[5]

Isomers

This still life is comprised of the normally stable boat acting to stabilise the normally unstable long bookend, an induction coil. This is one of four possible isomers, named trans due to the boat extending past the side of the bookend, and up, due to the boat being closer to the dense part of the bookend; the other trans isomer, trans-boat down on long bookend, is farther from the dense part of the bookend, and the other two isomers, cis-boat up on long bookend and cis-boat down on long bookend, do not extend past the sides of the bookend (hence cis).
