Long bookend is an induction coil that is a longer version of a bookend.
Unlike the regular bookend and many other induction coils, the long bookend is not part of any common evolutionary sequence.
If left unsupported, it turns into a block after 44 generations.
The long bookend is sometimes referred to as the long hook, though this is discouraged to avoid confusion with the pre-pre-pre-block.
As a still life component
As mentioned previously, it can act as an induction coil. Two long bookends suffice to make a still life, with five possible isomers:
-
Trans-mirrored long bookend
-
Shift-mirrored long bookend
-
Cis-rotated long bookend
-
Trans-rotated long bookend
Unlike the normal bookend, a diagonal bridge between two long bookends does not result in a stable object in itself.
