Phoenix with cavity[1] is a small period-2 oscillator. It is the smallest period-2 oscillator which makes use of the cavity flipping reaction, reflected in its mod of 1.
Up to 2 cavities can be added to each Phoenix 1.
It first appeared naturally on June 30, 2022 in a soup found by Charity Engine.[2]
Glider synthesis
All strict still lifes with a population of 23 or fewer cells, all oscillators with 16 or fewer cells, and all spaceships with 35 or fewer cells are known to be glider-constructible. A glider synthesis of this object can be found in the infobox to the right.
In other rules
When the B3q transition is removed (for the rule named qlife), up to 4 cavities can be added, creating what is in effect 4 cavities mutually supporting each other.
