Long melusine (or long fuse with two tails) is an 11-cell still life consisting of a long fuse with two tails.
While sometimes referred to as trans-long fuse with two tails, this distinction is slightly misleading, as there is no way to connect two tails to a "long fuse" of length 3 in cis arrangement. The closest alternative, welding the two tails, yields a loaf.
Occurrence
Of the 46 11-cell still lifes, it is the fourth rarest. It is the rarest of those without a hook motif.
This still life does not occur in final patterns of collisions in octohash, octo3obj or octo3g databases.
Glider synthesis

This still life is known to be constructible with 5 gliders.[1] Some known syntheses can be found in Mark Niemiec's database.[2] A 6-glider synthesis was found by Goldtiger997 in March 2021.[3][4] A 5-glider synthesis was found by Carson Cheng in May 2023.[5][6]
