This is a guide to stop an edit war, step by step:

• Surrender if needed, and make the number of edits on affected pages as low as possible.
• If the edit war is about terminology/two synonyms, be careful not to try to pick one of them and say that it's the "right" one. Let people use whatever term they prefer, until a consensus emerges naturally (if it's going to).
• When an edit war escalates, report to the moderators/admins as soon as possible.
• When you're making an edit to implement an executive decision, be sure to say that clearly in the edit summary.
