"A"

Does anyone know what "A" (as in the opposite of "B") actually stands for? "B(irth)", "(S)urvival" and "D(eath)" are self-explanatory, but "A" has me puzzled. "Apathy", perhaps, as in a lack of reaction? -- Apple Bottom (talk) 19:31, 29 July 2017 (UTC)

Origin of D

Historiography note: "D" is not my coinage, I remember initially seeing it in minor Life / OT software from the 00s — it might even have been one of the older versions of LifeLab — that had idiosyncratic "B/D" rule notation (i.e. survival is default, all changes are marked). --Tropylium (talk) 09:52, 1 September 2025 (UTC)
