Swan is a c/4 diagonal spaceship found by Tim Coe in February 1996 that produces some useful sparks.

Uses

Two swans can pull a p8 swan tagalong to create the current smallest known period-8 c/4 diagonal spaceship.

A swan can also be combined non-trivially with a Canada goose.

On February 20, 1996 Noam Elkies noticed that it could be made into a small boatstretcher.[1] A version stretching a tub (instead of a boat as shown below) was called TIRETRAK.LIF in Alan Hensel's lifep pattern collection from the 1990s; this was at a time when PC-compatible computers running older versions of MS-DOS were still limited to eight-character filenames.
