Bracket quasar is a period-3 oscillator discovered by David Bell on the 7th of March, 1993,[1] two days after the discovery of the bracket pulsar.
Its name is derived from the bracket pulsar, of which it is an extension, and the quasar, which is an extension of the "original" pulsar to this size (12 units instead of 4, in the same positions). It can be extended infinitely beyond this, like pulsar and cross themselves can be.
Like with the bracket pulsar, individual quadrants can be skewed (example) to create related oscillators of differing symmetries.
