Bipole tie ship is a period-2 oscillator.

As its name implies, it involves a ship having been tied to a bipole.

Commonness

Main article: List of common oscillators

Bipole tie ship is about the forty-seventh most common naturally-occurring oscillator in Achim Flammenkamp's census[1] and the 49th most common oscillator on Adam P. Goucher's Catagolue.

Quadpole tie ship is about 160 times as common as bipole tie ship, because it has a common predecessor, while bipole tie ship can only occur by chance.

Glider synthesis

All strict still lifes with a population of 23 or fewer cells, all oscillators with 16 or fewer cells, and all spaceships with 35 or fewer cells are known to be glider-constructible. A glider synthesis of this object can be found in the infobox to the right.
