55P10 is a period-10 sparker that was found on December 27, 2018 by Bullet51. The version shown in the infobox is a stator reduction found by Matthias Merzenich three days later. A skewed variant can be made by moving the right side down two cells and extending the left side of the gutter by two cells.[note 1][2]
A 120-glider synthesis of this oscillator was found by Tanner Jacobi on January 1, 2020.[3]

The monomer edge is four cells long for seven consecutive generations and five for the other three. Since 55P10 was discovered, a monomer was wanted. On September 21, 2023, a different p10 with the same "seven and three" edge was found by Nora Brown, which galoomba found could monomerise 55P10, although not in a useful way.

In other rules
In the isotropic rule B3/S234z, 55P10 is rephased to become 57P9, though it can be stabilized as shown below to still have 55 cells by replacing snakes with the stable z-pentomino. Despite this, it remains a versatile sparker.[4]

Notes
- ↑ As an example of its use, the 2019 reductions to the p50, p100, and p200 glider guns by Tanner Jacobi all used this version[1]. Currently, the smallest versions of those glider guns rely on period-multiplied versions of the p25 glider gun.
