54P23 is a period-23 oscillator and honey farm hassler discovered by Nora Brown on November 6, 2022.[1] It is the fifth unique period-23 oscillator to be discovered. With only 55 cells in its original minimum phase, it was the smallest known oscillator of its period,[2] surpassing 70P23 which was discovered just two days earlier.

On November 7, 2022, GUYTU6J found a 26-glider synthesis.[3] On December 13, 2023, Chris857 lowered the cost to 25 gliders.[4][5]
On March 3, 2024, Period1GliderGun reduced the population to 54 cells from the original 55,[6] by noticing that a blinker could replace the block catalyst. The blinker is rephased with each cycle.

The LCM oscillator below is shown due to being the smallest known one by population while also satisfying the condition that at least one cell oscillates at the full period.
