Visions of Chaos is a Windows application developed by Softology. Among other mathematical simulations, the application provides a way to simulate and explore a number of classes of CA rules, with capabilities focused on video rendering.
Although there are no pattern editing features, it is possible to evolve a randomly filled pattern according to any user-chosen rule. The configuration dialog of the "2D Generations Cellular Automata" mode allows to select a .LIF pattern from a supplied collection of patterns.
The program can be run under Linux via Wine, although a message is shown on the start that warns that some features may not be available.
