Video Life is an implementation of Conway's Game of Life on the Atari 2600 developed by CommaVid. Video Life cartridges were distributed by the company through a mail order system alongside the Magicard, a programming utility.[1]
Video Life is notable due to being perhaps one of the rarest Atari 2600 games;[2] CommaVid co-owner Irwin Gaines estimated that less than 20 Video Life cartridges were ever manufactured,[3] although other sources estimate the total to be as high as 500.[1] Cartridges containing the game were estimated to sell for around US$3,000 in 2003.[4]
