Hello,

  1. There are 22 tetraplets, not 27.
  2. I'd argue that taking the average of all ratios is pointless and takes a lot of time. SPP can be calculated much easier by summing all maximum populations of tetraplets and dividing by 88.
  3. It looks like Castles have SPP of around 1.215 (107 / 88), if you want to put that on your page.
    1. For a bonus piece of trivia, if you were to choose hexaplets instead of tetraplets, Castles would have SPP of at least 16.5, as there is at least one hexaplet that grows to 48779 cells.

Thanks for the correction and suggestions.

I do feel like using tetraplets alone might not be the best way to represent a rule's ability to make small patterns grow rapidly. For example, all of the tetraplets in the explosive 3-4 Life either die in a few generations or turn into small oscillators. The smallest explosive pattern in the rule has 8 cells. Maybe taking a look at other polyplets will give a more accurate representation.

Of course, you shouldn't use one value alone to judge a rule's behavior, but I do want to make it as reliable as I can. TheWayOfTheCon (talk) 17:50, 11 September 2026 (UTC)
