HeartLife is a Life-like cellular automaton in which a cell survives from one generation to the next if it has 2 or 3 neighbors, and is born if it has 3 or 5, but not on an edge neighbors. nder this rule, patterns tend to stabilize much more quickly than in standard Life, due to it being a variation of OCA:Grounded Life.

Patterns

The two most common objects in HeartLife are the block and the blinker.

Some patterns work as they do in Life, but many may not, such as the Glider, beehive, pi-heptomino, and stairstep hexomino.

Still lifes

Because HeartLife adds one birth transition from Life, all still lives in HeartLife are still lives in Conway's Game of Life, but the reverse is not true. For example, the Loaf fails in HeartLife.

Many small still lifes under the standard Life rules have dead cells with five alive neighbours, so the list of still lifes for the two rules are extremely different for both small and large cell counts. The smallest patterns that are still lifes in the standard Life rules but not in HeartLife are: beehive (with 6 cells) and loaf, long boat and fishhook (with 7 cells). Thus, the smallest asymmetric still life is hook with tail.

Oscillators

Naturally occurring objects in this rule include oscillators of periods 2, 3, 4, 5, 8 and 26. *WIP*
