User:Iddi01/Anisotropic rule notation
I have been developing a notation for anisotropic rules. It's still a WIP, so feel free to post suggestions on the talk page.
The notation, as you would expect, is in Bxx/Sxx form. Each transition consists of two letters, one uppercase, one lowercase, and transitions are separated by a comma.
The lowercase letter specifies the configuration for edge cells, while the uppercase one specifies that of corner cells. The configuration specified for an uppercase letter is equal to that of the lowercase letter, but rotated 45 degrees counter-clockwise.
The transitions are:
u d l r h v w c q n o . . . . o . o o o .x. .x. ox. .xo oxo .x. oxo ox. .xo oxo . o . . . o o o o .
f g i j a o o . . o ox. .xo .xo ox. oxo . . o o o
U D L R H V W C Q N o . . . . . . o . o o . . o o . o o o o x x x x x x x x x x . . . o o . . . o . . o o o o o . o o .
F G I J A o . o o . o . . o o x x x x x o . . . . o o o o o
For example, BvG,hI,vJ,hF/SfU,gR,iD,jL is equal to B4t/S3a.
This notation works fine on rules with very few transitions, but the rulestring gets ridiculously long for anything beyond very simple rules.
Any suggestions to improve it?
