A period-22 glider gun is any glider gun with period 22.
The first true period 22 glider gun was discovered by David Eppstein on August 27, 2000. It uses two copies of Jason's p22, and was in fact found later on the same day as that oscillator. It is one of a relatively small but growing number of known true period guns below period 61, where infinite sets of splitter-based guns using speed tunnel become possible (though some Quetzals lack periodic supports and/or are theoretically infinitely adjustable), as well as one of the smallest known guns outright by population and bounding box. It also is the lowest-period gun with volatility equal to 1 as well as the smallest oscillator without additional stabilizing oscillators.
