Tarantula is a c/5 orthogonal spaceship that was discovered by Frank Everdij on January 8, 2025.[1] In terms of its minimum population of 58 cells, it is tied with spider as the smallest known c/5 orthogonal spaceship, although spider has a smaller bounding box.
The smallest known 2c/10 orthogonal spaceship can be made by adding a small glide-symmetric tagalong found by Bullet51 on October 6, 2015.[1][2]
