I found a pattern like this today. It's a period 3 oscillator, but I haven't been able to find it. Made of four quadrants, oscillates from 48-48-64 cells... Is there a reason to pick this particular 3G synthesis to demonstrate in viewer? It seems to be the longest (reaction time from first collision to pulsar forming) and largest (reaction envelope) one from Niemiec's collection. If I were to synthesize, say, a pre-pulsar hassler, that recipe would be the least useful one as it cannot be easily inserted to between other objects. GUYTU6J (talk) 14:26, 10 November 2022 (UTC)

  • What I do agree with is that this is mostly an arbitrary choice. However, I think examples are not required to be useful. And given that there are many known syntheses (probably too many to show them all on this page), without any obvious way to choose the single best one, it might actually make sense to intentionally choose an useless example for demonstration (IIRC I actually chose this example because it was longer) - just to avoid any arguments on which syntheses are useful enough to be shown.
