Skewed quad is a period-2 oscillator and muttering moat. It first appeared naturally on May 10, 2015, in a soup submitted to Catagolue by Brett Berger.[1]
Commonness
- Main article: List of common oscillators
Information on this oscillator's commonness with respect to other naturally-occurring patterns is currently unknown.
In asymmetric soups, skewed quad typically forms asymmetrically, but there are many ways for it to form. However, in fourfold rotational symmetry, four teardrops with the correct spacing become a skewed quad.

Glider synthesis
All strict still lifes with a population of 23 or fewer cells, all oscillators with 16 or fewer cells, and all spaceships with 35 or fewer cells are known to be glider-constructible. A glider synthesis of this object can be found in the infobox to the right.
