Pyrotechnecium is a period-8 billiard table oscillator found by David Buckingham in 1972.[1][2]

On September 21, 2025, PK22 found a 34-glider synthesis of a stator variant using loaves instead of tubs.[3][4] The next day, KtT used it to complete a 40-glider synthesis of the canonical oscillator.[5][6] KtT reduced the cost of the canonical form to 38 gliders on December 7, 2025.[7][8]
