Pole 2 is a rotor discovered by John Conway in 1970. It is seen in patterns such as blinker, bipole, fore and back, and snake pit.
In other rules
A lone "Pole 2" can work as an oscillator in the isotropic rule B2c/S. In this rule, strings of dots separated by one cell effectively simulate the same Margolus-like rule seen in 2x2.
