A period-144 glider gun is a glider gun with true period 144. The first such gun, gunstar, was found by David Buckingham in 1990. A much smaller gun, new gun 2, was found by Bill Gosper in July 1994 (see factory for a full description and pattern). Reductions were made by Michael Simkin in July 2016 and by iNoMed in October 2021. The current smallest, shown at right, was assembled by iNoMed in November 2021 using the same catalyst as in Medusa and has a bounding box of only 43×21, making it one of the most compact known glider guns.

iNoMed found a 40-glider synthesis of this gun on November 11, 2021, which was improved to 35 gliders with the help of MathAndCode and Martin Grant over the next two days.
