The p21 B-heptomino hassler is a pi factory where p7 sparkers cause two B-heptominoes to become two B-heptominoes in the same position and two great-great-great-grandchilds of the house twenty-one generations later, using a mechanism found by David Raucci on August 1st, 2021.[1] The pis must be suppressed or destroyed so that they don't destroy the oscillator. The method that David Raucci originally used is shown at the top of the infobox pattern. The smallest method (both in terms of population and bounding box) is a single boat, which was found by Tanner Jacobi on the same day[2] and is shown at the bottom of the infobox pattern. Fishhooks also work in multiple ways.[3]
Guns
Tanner Jacobi figured out how to turn a pi output from the oscillator into a gun using 28P7.3 on August 1st,[4] making p21 the odd period with the smallest gun and, at the time, the seventh-smallest overall.[5] Adam P. Goucher found ways to overclock a bouncer in order to delete every other glider[6] or two out of every three gliders,[7], resulting in p42 and p63 guns. Tanner Jacobi then created a p84 gun using that engine by building off of Goucher's p42 gun and trying to overclock a Snark.[8] On May 28, 2022, meatball was discovered by Charity Engine which led to a reduction of the gun's bounding box.[9]

Glider synthesis
On May 24, 2025, Chris857 found 59-glider syntheses of boat-supported[10][11] and eater-supported versions of the oscillator.[12][13]
