The SlowLife p7 is a period-7 oscillator found by Jiahao Yu on August 7, 2022,[1] unique to SlowLife due to cells updating at both parities. It has volatility 1, which is notably as-yet unknown in any single-parity p7.[2]
Subsection stabilisations
p6
The statorless p6 was discovered by Dean Hickerson in August 1989, since which two alternative stabilisations have been found.
| the bottom 4 cells are equal on generations 0 through 8, and the bottom 3 on gens 0 through 10 (click above to open LifeViewer) |
p7
On October 26, 2025, following the implementation of diagonal symmetries in GPU censuses, siffrin normal discovered a period-7 oscillator which stabilises the bottom three rows.

p8
On January 15, 2015, Nora Brown discovered a period-8 oscillator in tetramer form, that flips loafs and as such is monomerisable by eater 3s.[3]
| The bottom three rows match for generations 0 through 4 and 8 through 12 but become desynchronised thereafter. (click above to open LifeViewer) |
