The Moon is a small alien photon and phoenix spaceship which becomes the Grin in Life. It works in multiple rules, including those without survival conditions like Seeds, Live Free or Die and Logic Rule, as well as Generations rules such as Brian's Brain and Star Wars. The pattern also appears as a c/2 orthogonal spaceship in some strobing rules such as B0123/S6, interestingly keeping the same appearance in all phases, as well as being a c/2 orthogonal spaceship with different phases in rules such as B2e3ij/S2ak and B2e3i/S1c2ek. It is often extendable by increasing the size of its wings. It works in 212 outer-totalistic rules (one sixty-fourth of all OT rules), from B2/S to B245678/S0345678, as well as 294 isotropic non-totalistic rules (1/256th of all rules), from B2ae/S to B23-j45678/S01e2-k345678.
