Mosquito 4 is a breeder and 73-cell quadratic growth pattern that was found by Stephen Silver in October 1998. At the time of its discovery, it was the smallest known pattern exhibiting superlinear growth (passing the former record holder mosquito 3), but it was surpassed by mosquito 5 a few days later.
