A line-cutting reaction is a mechanism that can cut an infinite diagonal line of cells, leaving a gap with both ends sealed. A mechanism for this was first demonstrated in 2006. The improved recipe shown below was used in a stable line crosser constructed in 2018. See line-mending reaction for a way to mend the gap.
