LifeCA
LifeCA was an invite-only mailing list for discussion of Conway's Game of Life and Life-like cellular automata. It was started by Rich Schroeppel in April 1992 and served as a primary venue for Life research in the 1990s and 2000s. With the founding of the ConwayLife.com forums in 2009, LifeCA experienced a major drop-off in activity. However, it continued to exist until December 2020, when Yahoo Groups was shut down.
In February 2022, Dave Greene started NewLifeCA, an opt-in mailing list containing news about notable discoveries and developments. It is meant primarily for former LifeCA members who have opted not to use the forums or the Discord server due to the relatively high volume of posting on those two platforms. A public archive of NewLifeCA newsletters is available on the forums, and can be found below.
