Hungry is an adjective describing a modification of a still life, induction coil or stator of an oscillator where a tail is replaced with a nine. The name comes from the modification allowing it to be used as an eater 1 variant. It was originally used with hungry hat, which has since been extended to hungry eleven loop, hungry worm, and others. Such catalysts tend to be useful for welding purposes.
Top row: hat and hungry hat. Middle row: eleven loop and hungry eleven loop. Bottom row: worm and hungry worm, stabilised by tubs since worm is an induction coil. The three gliders show how the hungry variants can eat gliders using an eater 1 reaction. (click above to open LifeViewer)
