The angel is a common predecessor of a single, edgeshot blinker. Two of the three two-glider syntheses of a single blinker make the blinker via an angel.

It is too short-lived to be in the list of common evolutionary sequences, but the octo3obj database puts its frequency as rarer than the lumps of muck and century but more common than the wing.
