92P59 is a period-59oscillator found in its original 108-cell form by Mitchell Riley on September 14, 2022[1] and reduced to its current 92-cell form by Riley on July 3, 2023 by replacing one of the fishhooks on each side with a transparent blinker. In terms of its minimum population of 108 cells, the original form was the smallest known period-59 oscillator until the discover of the p59 pi-heptomino hassler in April 2023. It was also the only known oscillator of this period that does not rely on adjustable glider loops or Herschel track technology until the discovery of the phase-shifted p59 twirling T-tetsons 2 in November 2022.
The name 92P59 was chosen over a more descriptive name (such as p59 [object] hassler) because in its most recognisable form, it hassles both a bun and a beehive rather than a common single object.
A 40-glidersynthesis for the 108-cell form of this oscillator was found on the day of its discovery.[2] A 32-glider synthesis of the 92P59 form was found on the day of its discovery.[3]
