A small stable constellation is constructed via a four-glider synthesis discovered in March 2023.[c 2] Previously constructed with 5 gliders, this constellation is the result of the first step of an incremental synthesis of Negentropy, reducing the glider cost of the oscillator from 90 to 89 gliders.[c 3]

A 4-glider collision is a collision between four gliders. There are infinitely many distinct 4-glider collisions.

There are no known attempts of a systematic classification or description of all possible (families of) four-glider collisions.[1][2][3][4] In particular, it is unknown whether or not it is possible to find a four-glider reverse caber-tosser; there is no known way to rule out with certainty a four-glider synthesis for any given glider-constructible target pattern.[5]
