120P7 is a period-7 oscillator that produces middleweight sparks and duoplet sparks. It has been used in many higher-period oscillators, although due to its large size, there are often smaller alternatives.
The discoverer and exact date of discovery are unknown. It is not in Dean Hickerson's oscillator stamp collection, but it is in jslife, putting the discovery date between 1995 and 2012.
On October 17, 2024, Chris857 found a 101-glider synthesis which he quickly improved to 97 gliders.[1] On October 17, 2025, KtT lowered the cost to 96 gliders.[2]
