Cis-boat with tail is a 9-cell still life. It was found in 1971.[1]

This still life is comprised of the normally stable boat with a normally unstable tail attached. This is one of two possible isomers, named cis due to the corner part of the boat being closer to the tail; the other isomer, trans-boat with tail, has this corner part facing outwards.

The cis-boat with tail, combined with a snake or anything that catalyses the same way, is a catalyst called the "gourmet catalyst", as it's used in the oscillator gourmet, specifically as a PT8P.

Cis-boat with tail is the forty-second most common still life in Achim Flammenkamp's census, being less common than fourteener but more common than long snake.[2] It is also the fifty-fourth most common object on Adam P. Goucher's Catagolue.[3] Compared to the trans-boat with tail, the cis-boat with tail is about 1/17 as common.

Glider synthesis
