Templates can be inserted into pages to easily produce frequently-required text or information boxes. This page catalogues some of the most useful and frequently-used templates on LifeWiki.

Infobox templates

Infoboxes are shown in the top right of many articles to provide information in a concise and consistent form.

• Template:Distinguish - used at the top of a page to link to other articles with similar, but not the same, titles
• Template:For - used at the top of a page to link to other articles with similar titles (unlike "Template:About", does not clarify the subject of the current article in the first sentence)

• Template:Sparker - adds the page to various categories for specific types of sparkers

Image indexing

• Template:AnimatedImage - for animated pattern images, excluding those about specific cellular automata rules
• Template:AnimatedRuleImage - for animated images that are the main image for a cellular automata rule
• Template:PatternImage - for still images that are the main image for a pattern page
• Template:RuleImage - for still images that are the main image for a cellular automata rule

• Template:Ambox - generic notice template with customizable text, to be placed at the top of a page
• Template:Citation needed - to be placed next to a potentially dubious claim not supported by any citation (shortcut: {{cn}})
