Note: The most up-to-date version of the database can be found at (updated and current repository. The forum thread for the project can be found here.

The Smallest Spaceships Supporting Specific Speeds Project aims to document all known spaceship speeds (including oscillators, which move at speed 0c/p) in various rulespaces in CA. Rulespaces currently supported by the project include: OT rules with and without B0, INT rules with and without B0, OT generations rules, INT generations rules, HROT range 2 rules, B1e INT rules, INT rules without survival conditions, and INT rules with only one death condition. Spaceships which are considered to be adjustable are not included in the main database, but they can be included in a separate section after a generator for all ships in a given family is programmed in. Please do not submit any spaceships that can be considered adjustable to the submission box.

The project can be contributed to on the 5S website by submitting one or more ships to the submission box in RLE format, or multiple in batches in 5S format with each ship/oscillator on separate lines. Submissions can be headed in any direction or be predecessors of a periodic pattern, but the minimum phase will only be recorded during the actual period of the pattern. 5S format is as follows:

minimum cell count, rule, x displacement, y displacement, period, headerless RLE

To see if a speed is in the database and what the smallest known example is (assuming it exists), type the speed into the box on the left. All ships are given headed in a direction between E and SE.
