50093M is a methuselah with a lifespan of 50093 generations, discovered by Rob Liston on January 9, 2021, using apgsearch.[1] The same day, goldenratio used LogicLifeSearch to find a variant (50095M) of this methuselah lasting two more generations,[2] which was formerly the longest-lasting known non-infinitely-growing[note 1] methuselah within a 16 × 16 square. Tanner Jacobi found another variant which does not fit within 16 × 16 but has a population of only 59 cells.[3] All of these surpass 49768M which was discovered in April 2020, but have since been surpassed by 52513M which was found just a week later on January 16, 2021.
Stable pattern
