p171 pi-heptomino hassler is an oscillator found by Mitchell Riley (presumed to be a partial at the time) on September 7, 2022,[1] but was not noticed to be complete until February 2024.[2] In terms of its 128 cells, it is currently the smallest known period-171 oscillator. It consists of 8 fishhooks, 2 blocks, and 2 eater 2s hassling 2 pi-heptominoes.

On February 20, 2024, Chris857 found a 48-glider synthesis.[3][4] On December 22, 2024, KtT lowered the cost to 46 gliders.[5][6]
