115P106 is the smallest known period-106 oscillator , discovered by Nico Brown on October 1, 2022 .[ 1] It consists of an unnamed active region being hassled by two traffic stops , two catalysts that are present in AK94 , and four eater 1s .
A 60-glider synthesis for 115P106 was found by Chris857 on the next day[ 2] which was then improved to 58 gliders .[ 3] Chris857 also synthesized a smaller and cheaper variant that has two fumaroles at both ends;[ 4] they remove blinkers with their domino sparks, but increase the overall period to 106 × 5 = 530 .
