Bricklayer is a linear-growth pattern that was constructed by David Bell on September 29, 2002. It builds two ever-lengthening diagonal lines of blocks starting at the bottom-left of the pattern.[1] It works by firing gliders from two period-154 glider guns, each a combination of three period-22 glider guns, and reflecting one glider with a p7 bouncer, to support the lumps of muck reaction.
The pattern is indirectly available from Golly's collection. To retrieve it, run either of the following scripts: Scripts/Lua/bricklayer.lua or Scripts/Python/bricklayer.py.
A 232-glider synthesis for a larger bricklayer variant with 34P14 shuttle was found by Entity Valkyrie on January 4, 2020.[2]
