Despite being chaotic, it has many types of still lives and oscillators. A random 16*16 soup can last a plenty thousand generations before stabilizing, while a 32*32 soup may take tens of thousands.

Unfortunately, this rule has no spaceships due to the lack of any birth condition that allows patterns to escape their initial bounding diamond.
My rubbish PC is grinding around 550 soups/second, I'm sure someone can do this much faster and discover many more objects. Nevertheless, I already found many new still lifes and oscillators with long periods, such as these:
x = 20, y = 9, rule = B2ci3-ay4-i5c/S23-a4ikt5-e
4bo$3b3o$2bo3bo7b4o$bob3obo5bobob2o$2obobob2o6b5o$bob3obo5b6o$2bo3bo7b
ob2o$3b3o$4bo!
Sadly, rules that can't leave the bounding box/bounding diamond don't usually get much attention. For reasons I don't fully understand, most of the CA community favors spaceships out of all types of patterns.

Having a common spaceship in a rule means that signals can easily be sent across infinite distances. Additionally, spaceship support also means a rule supports active regions. If a rule doesn't support spaceships, tons of things are impossible; all constructions must be of finite size, meaning no guns, no universal construction, no population growth patterns. The total lack of active regions means that conduits cannot exist, and neither can hasslers. Basically, being unable to escape the bounding diamond locks you out of nine-tenths of all technology. There's a reason these rules are usually ignored.

To Melwin's credit, they have discovered several instances of signal logic in Castles, including reflectors and a "generator". This kind of circuitry can be useful if the right tech is available, and the nature of the rule makes it somewhat feasible. Spaceships, especially common ones, make this stuff much easier though.
But in the case of Kaomata, it would be much harder to find such circuitry.
I could've chose a better username, but oh well.
Still learning the ropes of cellular automata, focused on one OCA at a time. My current interest is B35/S126 and range-two LTLs.

After grinding 10 million soups via apgsearch, here are the results and the updated stamp collection. Obviously, not all oscillators are shown, but all periods are, excluding the p24 which is trivial. For a given period, I chose some of the most common examples and largest ones. p18 is my favorite, I really like this oscillating sequence.
