Gridwar sets up individual Game of Life patterns (my "Glyphs" again, i.e. B3/S23 on the 16x16 torus, no repeating configurations allowed) on a grid and lets them compete by "charging" up the perimeter between them.

In "Infiltration" mode, a pattern conquers its neighbour and spawns a copy of itself if it breaches a perimeter threshold value, which leads to interesting emergent behaviour.
