View a Golly screen rotated 45 degrees?

Is there a way to view a Golly screen rotated 45 degrees, maybe using overlays? I've got a CA which draws square knots, etc., on a diamond grid:

- square-column.png (31.85 KiB) Viewed 998 times
(I manually screenshotted and rotated this picture)
and I'm really hoping there's a way to watch it evolve without having to keep tipping my head to one side!
Thanks,
---Josh

Right now it's impossible to do this in Golly without using Lua.
Instead, use LifeViewer (click
SHOW IN VIEWER) which has the ability of camera rotation:

Try Actual Window Manager's rotate feature. It allows to rotate window's to any angle, including and not limited to 45 degrees.

Thanks for the suggestions! I'm willing to do a little Lua programming if necessary --- do you have any suggestion where to start?

Can LifeViewer do custom icons for the states like Golly can? That's necessary for this project, I'm afraid.

Thanks, I was hoping for something cheaper, but I'll keep that in mind!

Yes, exactly the same as how you do in Golly. They're mostly interoperable except scripting (Golly uses Lua or Python, LifeViewer uses its own one).
