Move The Sandbox off of the main forums
People have suggested before to move it to a different website, but the problem is that no one wants to pay for another domain. So how about moving it somewhere else on conwaylife.com? Maybe conwaylife.com/sandbox or sandbox.conwaylife.com. Accounts should be synced between the regular forums and the new Sandbox.

Moving the Sandbox around, or reconfiguring it in various ways that have been suggested, would take a lot of work and attention by an administrator (Nathaniel). Some of these suggestions would also require a lot more work from an additional team of volunteer moderators, which has the unfortunate property of not existing at the moment.
Conversely, the current setup can be maintained with standard PHPBB functionality and the current moderator team, without any new customization needed.
So -- I won't claim to speak for Nathaniel, this is just based on past conversations -- it seems quite likely that the current setup is going to stay more or less the way it is. Best to spend your calories figuring out how to make good use of the Sandbox you have, and don't waste too much time inventing vaporware Sandbox variants that will probably never exist unless someone else decides to set them up and pay for them.
