Stopbox is omniperiodic, (very likely) Turing complete and has many box-constructible patterns.
The current goal is to find a spaceship slower than c/2, and a diagonal spaceship - in fact c/2 is currently the only known speed, and every c/2 spaceships must be made of boxes.
Once I'm on my computer, I'll compile APGsearch for Stopbox.

The smallest highway robber is simply a dot - the first dot that "robs" the box.
Highway robbers are very easy to construct via this way, due to the nature of boxes and dots.
Heisenburp devices are easily constructed; in this example the box creates sparks to activate a reaction that creates another box, but the box isn't actually affected:
Code: Select all
x = 28, y = 16, rule = Stopbox

Three basic logic gates could be constructed using ANDNOT gates.
Code: Select all
NOT A = 1 ANDNOT A
A AND B = A ANDNOT ( 1 ANDNOT B )
A OR B = 1 ANDNOT ( ( 1 ANDNOT A ) ANDNOT B )
Therefore:
Code: Select all
x = 36, y = 114, rule = Stopbox

Here is a statorless p80 box loop with five boxes and four p20 90-degree reflectors. The reflector (found while looking for a box duplicator) is "strange" in in that one of two boxes from which it's made participates in a 2-to-2 reaction with the incoming box (and is replaced by a new box from the 2-to-2 reaction):
...
Technically you could say that the box in the p20 that participated in the two-to-two reaction is swapped with the incoming box.
The p20 and p22 produces this spark (shown below, ignoring the box produced in generation 6), and the box produced before the spark dissipate is the reason why they exist.
Code: Select all
x = 3, y = 4, rule = Stopbox

More p20 components, including several 90-degree box reflectors, several box duplicators with two 90-degree outputs, 180-degree box reflectors, and a spark-producing interaction:
