This is a topic about B3acij4ce/s234-aw [...]
Please read the forum rules:
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2092
In particular, please use the "pattern" tags instead of "LV". "LV" tags are discouraged, because they can cause browser lag in many situations, and also because you are essentially forcing every reader to scroll through large viewers, even if the reader already saw the patterns / if the reader would like to quickly skip to the next post.
Also, do not create new threads for non-notable CA. There is no evidence of B3acij4ce/s234-aw being noteworthy enough to make a separate thread just for this particular cellular automaton. There are way too many CA to have threads for all of them. Most such threads are unnecessary.
Instead of starting a new thread, post in an existing thread like
viewtopic.php?f=11&t=1971 (Miscellaneous Discoveries in Other Cellular Automata) or
viewtopic.php?f=11&t=803 (Thread For Your Unrecognised CA).

Please use "pattern" tags (respective button can been found at right of "catagolue" button) instead of LV (LifeViewer) tags to encase the RLEs.
Plus, if you're not sure if a newly discovered rule is notable enough to be others' interest, pleaae post it in
Thread For Your Unrecognized CA.

A reflector? Looks like a sign that this rule is omniperiodic
What about a reflector for the orthogonal ship?

I think i wanted to try that, but decided to go for a reflector for the c/4 diagonal spaceship instead.
In other news, potential B-to-G
Code:

Harfordson Parker-Cole found various puffers using apgsearch, including the following.
- (14,13)c/114:
Code: Select all
x = 14, y = 13, rule = B3acij4ce/S234-aw
3b2o$3bo7b2o$2ob2o4b2o2bo$2obo6b3o$3b2o6bo2$3b2o$3b2o2$10bo$9bobo$9bob

- 16c/127 orthogonal:
Code: Select all
x = 15, y = 10, rule = B3acij4ce/S234-aw
5bo$bo2b3o$3o4bo$bo3b2o4b2o$bo2bo7bo$2b3o5b2o$3bo9bo$12bobo$12bobo$13b
o!
- Various c/2o puffers, mostly at period 24 but including an unusually dirty p36:
Code: Select all
x = 13, y = 14, rule = B3acij4ce/S234-aw
7bo$3bo2b2ob2o$7bobob2o$11b2o$5b2obo3bo$4bo3b4o$5b2o2bo2$4b4o$2bobo3bo
$2bo2bo2b2o$3obo2b2o$8o$2o2bo!
- This p12 XWSS-like block puffer, the most common:
Code: Select all
x = 9, y = 5, rule = B3acij4ce/S234-aw
5b4o$2o2bo3bo$2obo4bo$4bo2bo$5bo!
Patterns tend to evolve into dense clusters of still lifes, since these are hard to destroy due to limited birth transitions. Another consequence is that this can produce very large asymmetric still lifes, such as this soup that contains an xs172:
Code: Select all
x = 16, y = 16, rule = B3acij4ce/S234-aw
6o2b8o$2o3bob4o2bo$5o2b2o3b2obo$bob3o4b2ob2o$2obo2b4ob3o$b3obo2bo2bobo

3obobob2o3bo$ob3o7b2obo$bo3b3obob2o$2obob2o3bo3bo$obobo2bobo2bo!
Also present is a p40, here simplified from the original finding:
Code: Select all
x = 8, y = 8, rule = B3acij4ce/S234-aw
2o4b2o$2o4b2o$3bo$2b2o$2bo2$2o4b2o$2o4b2o!
And a 10-cell c/4d; the two haves can be attched in four different ways, and one half can be attached as a sidecar to the ant in six different ways:
Code: Select all
x = 56, y = 17, rule = B3acij4ce/S234-aw
2o8b2o8b2o8b2o$3o7b3o7b3o7b3o$4bo9b2o8b2o8bo$4b2o7b2o8bo9bo$4b2o8b2o7b

9bo9bo9b2o$5b2o8b2o7b3o7b2o8b2o7b2o$35bo8b2o8b2o!
All results can be found at
https://catagolue.hatsya.com/census/b3acij4ces234-aw/C1.
Speeds other than those already known seem to be scarce; c/6o is the most likely candidate but even that is weak. Odd period multiples of c/2o also seem to be absent.

Nice!
Known periods: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 12, 20, 24, 26, 32, 36, 40+
That's great but I'd obviously still love to be able to find new oscillators myself. Any search programs which can be used in Golly to find new periods?
[P.S. sorry if I sound dumb]

No, but you can install apgsearch from
its git repository, run it, and look for new periods in results on the Catagolue page.

As it stands, it doesn't yet count as a synthesis. One reason is missing cleanup of the leftover junk that isn't part of the target. Looks like cleanup might be difficult.
Further, it is usually desirable to use only one kind of spaceship in a synthesis (and construct any other needed spaceships by collisions).

I unsuccessfully tried to find either of those in Golly before posting, and a relevant clarification post to correct errors/misconceptions (e.g. what counts or doesn't count as a valid
glider synthesis) can be useful regardless of whether it provides any other relevant information in addition to that.

This took a rather long time for me to find, but here's a B-to-B+G:
Code:
Select all
x = 12, y = 17, rule = B3acij4ce/S234-aw

4b3o$8b3o$8b3o$4bobo$5bo!
Yes that means a gun exists
Code:
Select all
x = 14, y = 23, rule = B3acij4ce/S234-aw

2o!
Edit: Direct B-to-G
Code:
Select all
x = 12, y = 17, rule = B3acij4ce/S234-aw
