I think LifeViewer requires a finite grid for strobing RuleLoader tables/trees, and Golly doesn't behave very nicely with such cellular automata, either.

B028/S0124 has B0 but doesn't have S8.
On an even generation, follow the rules obtained from the original cellular automaton by toggling every living condition: B028/S0124 -> B134567/S35678.
On an odd generation, follow the rules obtained by including B(8-x) whenever Sx is a living condition in the original CA, and including S(8-y) whenever By is a living condition in the original CA: B028/S0124 -> B4678/S068.

So we need 2 (or more states you want) states to make B0 ruletable or ruletree.
A totalistic rule containing B0 but not Smax is converted into a pair of rules (both without B0): one is used for the even generations and the other for the odd generations. The rule for even generations uses inverted neighbor counts. The rule for odd generations uses S(max-x) for the B counts and B(max-x) for the S counts. For example, B03/S23 becomes B1245678/S0145678 (even) and B56/S58 (odd).(from Golly Heip/Algorithms/QuickLife)

To celebrate my 100th post, I'll be working on a rule called "ChaosCells" which follows the rules:

State 0 = Dead
State 1 = Alive (Conway's Game Of Life)
State 2 = Cloner (Makes more of itself after interacting with state 1)
State 3 = Killer (Kills the state 2 and turns it into state 4)
State 4 = Healed (Basically makes more of itself after interacting with state 2, which then results itself becoming back to state 1.)

By adding some S4 rules, we get quite an explosive rule. Amongst the chaos however, I found this cool diagonal spaceship that travels at smth smth c/8. I don't know if its really a c/8 diagonal, but, could someone help me find the speed? Lifeveiwer has some trouble calculating strobing rules lol.

My Vote Discoveries :>

Heya everyone! I'd decide to make this post about a relatively unknown rule, called "Vote". According to the wiki, Vote is also called "Majority" and has a modified sub-rule, called "Vote 4/5". I will only be talking about the Vote (B5678/S45678) rule itself though. Here are some valuable notes to take about this rule:
  • It is very stable.
  • It has a family of p2 oscillators (which I have included below)
  • It is also self-complemetary, its black/white reversal is the same nonetheless.
Using these, let's talk about some more interesting things about this rule. As you know, there are no such spaceships in this rule, and are not possible due to the absence of a birth that goes outside of its bounding box. There are however, an abundance of p2 oscillators. It is not known that there are any other period oscillators in this rule, so I wanted to give that a try by using a search on p3, p4 and p5 oscillators. But to no avail. It seems that there are possibly only p2's in this rule, which is my hypothesis.

Apart from those failed searches, there are these interesting c/1 light speed wick and a c/2 wick:

It seems that the c/2 wick needs to convert into the c/4 diagonal wick to turn, as a remnant of the c/2 wick can be seen in the c/4 diagonal wick slowly before turning. This is also true for the c/1 wick, you can see a slight hint of the c/2 wick forming at gen 19.

Here are also two "intersections" of the wicks where all four sides are colliding. They all die eventually.

Absence and Duality

Hello everyone! I'm back here to post this rule I made. It's based on an idea I had in mind: Using the isotropic non-totalistic rules, could I make a rule where the B values are not present in the S values (for instance, a B2a will correspond to a S2-a). While messing around with this, I found this cool rule, with a few spaceships, and patterns that I find quite interesting.

Still Lives
Although quite rare to find in a random soup, still lives are possible, just not that common. Here is a 48 cell still life:

Most spaceships in this rule are large, but I haven't found a small natural spaceship (yet!)

In a completely random rule, I fused Vote and Replicator into one rule, this produces a lively rule, a boundary between still and chaos. There is one spaceship I identified, a c/12 diagonal. Very neat for an almost uninteresting pair of rules.

Hi guys! I was inspired by the underrated character designs Ambrož made, so I've decided to make a little one of my own, here's Loaf! I'm sorry if my character design sucks right now, but I'm working on it! For now, here's a little doodle of Loaf. She's in the loaf position for cats, yes indeed!

In a nutshell, Loaf is a docile cat, living in the world as a still life, her diets consists of consuming blocks and any debris left from puffers, patterns ect. Also, she doesn't like the Dragon . There's no given reason for this however, she just dislikes it. Ironically, she loves sleeping near the Pond!

For some reason, it seems like certain heights can only produce certain oscillators. For example, I've only ever seen height 17 boxes form a specific p2:
